Every Square Inch: Chronicles of Spatial Maximization
March 2015

Completed in March 2015, this photo series documents the density, chaos and perpetual battle for space in Hong Kong by examining the culture of signage and advertising on the city’s busy streets.

Home to over 7 million people, Hong Kong is one of the densest cities in the world owing to the fact that the city’s built-up area accounts for only 24% of its total land area. Every square inch of space is extremely valuable and the resulting density creates an environment where spatial maximization is a national sport. Every corner of Hong Kong is layered with words, symbols and imagery in a never-ending competition for ad space.

A self-published 43-page book was printed in May 2015.
